Welcome back for Sunday Story Time. Today we are sharing a famous song book called 'Five Little Monkeys'. This song is a lot of fun to sing and gets the children jumping and moving. You can also use it to teach backward counting and to introduce subtraction to your little ones.
Please note that the story telling of this book is done along with my little one, so don't expect it to be perfect. The book is being read with my daughter, so that you get an idea on how to involve young children in reading. Reading books should be interactive and exciting for little children and if they are involved in the story, it makes reading a joyful experience for them.
We also sang another version called ' Five little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed...' with our puppets and then painted our hands to create monkeys.
We played a game called 'Feed The Monkey' after discussing what all Monkeys like to eat.
The little ones had to run and feed the monkeys as fast as they could.
We ended the story time with a cute action song:
Monkey see, monkey do
Little monkey at the zoo
Monkey, monkey in the tree
Can you ________ like me?
(jump around, swing your arms, eat a banana, twist, jumping jacks)
