Earth Day is around the corner and its a great opportunity to talk to young children about how they can make a difference and take care of planet Earth. It is celebrated every year on 22nd April.

Reading books is a fantastic way to start and explain to children some key words like recycling, reuse, environment, pollution etc.

Our two top favourites are, 'Don't Throw That Away' and '10 Things I Can Do To Help My World'.

The books explain different ways in which children can contribute and explain the concept of recycling in simple terms.

I read the book, 'Don't Throw That Away' and you can watch it for free on my YouTube channel.

Below is a simple craft idea that can be done after reading these books. Cut a circle shape from blue coloured paper and some shapes from green coloured paper. Cut out heart shapes and let children draw/write what they would like to do to save Planet Earth.

Another engaging activity that would help them to think and learn about different ways to care for Planet Earth can be downloaded for free from my website store.

Explaining children the 3 R's can be a challenge. But not if you create a fun 3 R's Chart given below:

As a recapitulation you can ask children to create an interesting earth book and write what 3 R's they would choose to make Planet Earth happy?

We painted the cover of the book using blue and green paint. We used droppers to put the paint and it all swirled together to create this awesome Earth book cover. We wrote what we would like to recycle, reuse and reduce.

We also have a super engaging and a fun Earth Day Themed math pack that you can use with your students or children at home.

The resource includes 13 math skills that you can build using easy, fun, print and go activities
